Shadow over Springboks, P9 The Scottish Rugby Union has expressed its confidence that Saturday's meeting with South Africa will go ahead in spite of the questions hanging over the tourists as a result of two of their players failing dope tests.
Levein Impressed by Performance but Bannan Earns Special Praise
Craig Levein claimed Scotland's 3-0 victory over the Faroe Islands offered glimpses of a bright future for his team as the manager saluted the performance of Barry Bannan. The Aston Villa midfielder was among seven players who made their Scotland debuts at Pittodrie and the 20-year-old grasped his opportunity with a mature display.

Levein Impressed by Performance but Bannan Earns Special Praise
Craig Levein, the Scotland manager, was impressed as an inexperienced side performed well in a 3-0 friendly victory over the Faroe Islands in Aberdeen last night. Danny Wilson's close-range volley from a Charlie Adam corner got the ball rolling in the 24th minute, and Adam then supplied a cross for Kris Commons to flick home a second while Queens Park Rangers striker Jamie Mackie grabbed the third just before half-time.

Youngsters Show Signs of Reviving Ailing Patient
IN a week dominated by injuries and withdrawals, this was just what the doctor ordered. Scotland's facile victory over the Faroe Islands will fail to spark any undue nervousness among the camps of their fellow Euro 2012 qualifying competitors but it was an invigorating tonic for home supporters. Unhealthy cynicism should be avoided but there is the temptation to comment that this hastily assembled Scotland side made the Faroe Islands look ordinary. The 133rd-ranked side in the world were dism...
Wilson: Goal Was Beyond Wildest Dreams
THE verdict was simple and heartfelt as Danny Wilson, a player who deals in millions in transfer fees and wages, reflected on his Scotland debut almost with a wide-eyed innocence. "I'm living the dream right now and I'm pinching myself every other week," said the 18-year-old after marking his debut with a goal, volleying home a Charlie Adam corner in the 3-0 defeat of the Faroe Islands.
Fletcher Vows to Win His Managers Over
Steven Fletcher is hoping his eye for goals will convince the Scotland manager Craig Levein and his Wolverhampton Wanderers counterpart Mick McCarthy that he should be a central part of their plans. Fletcher has also been left out of the Scotland side for the last three matches - including last night's 3-0 friendly victory over the Faroe Islands - and has been struggling to make an impression at club level.

Hibernian Youngster Relishing Challenge
David Wotherspoon, the Scotland Under-21 midfielder, is ready to embark upon another bid to qualify for the finals of the European Championships. Billy Stark's youngsters failed to reach the 2011 finals in Denmark when they lost to Iceland in a two-legged play-off last month. For many of the Scots, it was their last chance to play in the finals of a tournament which takes place every two years. However, the Hibernian player remains in the squad which will begin the build-up to another campaig...
YOU know you're getting old when Rangers players seem to be getting younger and younger. It is perhaps the only positive to emerge from what will, in the distant future, be looked back upon, with little fondness, as the Lloyds TSB years. A combination of a shallow squad and a batch of injuries has resulted in a number of young players being thrust into the limelight at Ibrox this season. None have yet shown they are ready to play every week but there have been enough encouraging signs in the ...
YOU could call them the new Scotland young team. Much is made of the youth of today and it's failure to live up to the glories of yesteryear but Barry Bannan and Danny Wilson gave Scotland a glimpse of a brave footballing future as they made their debuts at Pittodrie last night. The two Barclays Premier League-based players were the first graduates from Billy Stark's Under-21 side that fell at the final hurdle in their quest to make it to the European Championship finals in Denmark and others...

We Can Still Catch Celtic and Rangers, Says Bouzid
There are broad smiles around Tynecastle these days, following a number of years in the wilderness and with good reason. It is four years since the Edinburgh club split the Old Fim and finished in second place in the Scottish Premier League but recent events have at least one player believing the feat can be repeated this season.
Adams: My Inside Knowledge Can Help Calderwood
Derek Adams believes his knowledge of Scottish football can help get Colin Calderwood up to speed in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League and end Hibernian's Highland hoodoo this weekend. The new Easter Road assistant manager has spent virtually all his playing and managerial career north of the border, while Calderwood's appointment as manager in the capital marks his first venture into Scottish football at club level.
