It was the day Glasgow went mad on music, the biggest non-stop extravaganza the city has known - a 10-hour classical bash in aid of African famine relief. More than 500 musicians from all over Britain yesterday took part in Scottish Classical Aid at the Scottish Exhibition Centre on the Clyde. While the word was classical, the emphasis was on fun, which all climaxed with the biggest symphony orchestra ever assembled in Britain delivering the 1812 Overture complete with cannon effects.
