ABERDEEN Asset Management has written to the chief executive of City rival Close Brothers demanding he put a stop to "inaccurate statements" which it claims could damage its reputation.

The extremely stronglyworded letter, sent yesterday by Aberdeen's Murray Johnstone subsidiary to Colin Keogh and seen by The Herald, marks a significant escalation of its recent battle with Close.
