A SCOTTISH airport was used by the US to transport a terror suspect back to America in a so-called rendition flight, the government admitted for the first time last night.

Jack Straw, the foreign secretary, has insisted only two such US flights - used to transfer detainees between countries for interrogation - have made stopovers in Britain since Labour came to power in 1997; none since George W Bush took office in 2001. Details of one flight were leaked in a government memo in January.
