AFRICAN leaders met representatives of the world's richest countries in London yesterday to discuss how to turn agreements on assistance for the continent into action.

This week's two-day gathering of the African Partnership Forum follows the G8 summit in Perthshire this summer, where the leaders of the group of industrialised nations agreed a package of aid and debt relief forAfrica. It included a commitment that the G8 and EU would double development assistance by 2010.
