There is an instinctive regret for untested hopes and unfulfilled aspirations, or for the disappointment or unfairness which hindsight on life can often propose.
The service forAlan McInroy, at Loretto Chapel, was in a different and uplifting vein. We knew that we were marking the end of a long and satisfying journey, touched by early adversity and by later success, but always well lived.
