OFFICIALS at Scotland's leading clubs have been shocked by SRU claims that there is no place for them in European competition as the charm offensive being undertaken by the Murrayfield establishment threatens to backfire.

Astring of promises, adding to those already made, as well as claims that extra sources of revenue have been found, and pleas for support were made when SRU administrators attended the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood on Tuesday.
