Summary
AS Amy MacDonald took the stage at the Barrowland last night, it was tempting to wonder if fame had started to affect her. A row of bass drums was assembled at the back, spelling out her name, and her arrival, in a sparkling outfit, was followed by a new number that quickly referenced the paparazzi. It was a relief then that the rest of the evening suggested she remains the same low-key but big- voiced girl as before, with a penchant for writing catchy pop songs.
There has been some change. With the bulk of her set unveiling material from her forthcoming second album, A Curious Thing, it was noticeable that several tracks seemed to have added muscle, notably on Give It All Up's big drumbeats, while Spark added heavy synths to her sprightly, strumming guitar-pop, bringing to mind the arena- filling largesse of The Killers.See the full content of this document
