BILL Anderson was the businessman who in championing the cause of small firms across Scotland, forgot and forgave noone who crossed his path. Unrelenting in his persuasiveness, he regularly tongue- lashed politicians and civic leaders verbally and in newspaper letters.

As director in Scotland for the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and later for the Forum of Private Business, he succeeded in giving both organisations an importance at times out of scale with their followings. He made news and created news, gaining headlines where lesser folk would have long given up.
