A BITTER row has broken out between animal rights campaigners and a Scottish council over plans to create more than 1000 bioscience jobs.

Animal welfare groups have condemned a decision by Midlothian Council to give the go-ahead for a new European centre for animal research, which the council says will create 1200 jobs and help cement the region's status within the scientific community.
