IF there is anyone who has ever pondered what the Buzzcocks songs would sound like if they were smothered under enough guitar sludge to make Dinosaur Jr envious, this Liquid Rooms gig held the answer. The punk stalwarts set suffered hugely from an appalling sound mix that often left their songs a morass of noise.
A shame, for the Buzzcocks back catalogue is sturdy indeed. Now resembling a kindly grandfather, albeit one who still wears clothing with the word orgasm emblazoned on it, Pete Shelley has retained a vocal style that adds a sneer to even the more innocuous material, and tracks like Fast Car and I Don't Know What To Do With My Life still possess a timeless quality, and were performed in bludgeoning style.See the full content of this document
