SO Rangers fans think the league is all over this year? It isn't now, any more than it was 50 years ago, when an Ibrox side which had appeared dead and buried contrived one of the most improbable revivals in the game's history.

After their last match of October 1955 (a 2-1 defeat by Queen of the South at Dumfries) Rangers were 11th in the league, but then collected 20 points in 11 matches: nine victories in those two- points-for-a-win days, plus draws against Aberdeen and Motherwell. A similar run today would harvest 29 points.
