SCIENTISTS working at a Scottish university have made a "significant" discovery which could pave the way for a new treatment for a rare form of diabetes.

Around 9000 people in the UK are estimated to suffer from Hereditary Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus, a genetic condition which affects mainly men. It causes the kidneys to allow too much water to leave the body and means that patients are at risk of having too much sodium in their body and can become severely dehydrated.
