ABERDEEN Asset Management is about to part com- pany with the private equity team it acquired with Glasgow-based Murray Johnstone, and about (pounds) 200m of funds run by these individuals, a senior industry source has told The Herald.

The source said members of the team, led from Manchester by Jonathan Diggines, planned to set up on their own and were likely to take with them the contracts for the funds they run for the Murray venture capital trusts and institutional investors. Aberdeen might take a minority stake in the team's new venture.
