* Nick Smith, the national sprint champion, won the Scottish Games 100-yard Championship and also the Birnam Challenge 90m handicap sprint at Birnam Games, writes Colin Shields. Smith outclassed the field in the 100-yard event, winning in 9.80 ahead from Stephen Chalmers, the SGA 90m champion. He won the 90m in 9.65, beating John Paxton (Hawick) on the line after giving away starts of up to 14m.
