CAMPAIGNERS fighting the disbandment of Scotland's historic infantry units reacted angrily yesterday to the unveiling of a common cap badge for all soldiers in the proposed Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The badge is to be worn by the 3000 officers and men in the new five-battalion formation despite earlier promises that they could retain their own insignia. It features the lion rampant superimposed on the Saltire and topped by the crown of Scotland.
