ROSS BAIN bears no resemblance to Tiger Woods, nor has he earned anything like the same wealth, but he is certainly enjoying taking the place of the world No 1 at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Having accepted a late invitation to play as Woods continues his sabbatical, Bain, born in Dunfermline, but based in Dubai since he was eight years old, is the leading Scot after two rounds, moving to a one-under total of 143 after a 71 yesterday and ending a run of two missed Classic cuts.
