SIXTH-YEAR pupils at a Scottish school were advised to start their study leave a day early after allegedly causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage to their common room.

Teachers barred the gates of Paisley Grammar School and police were called when about 40 of the 100 sixthyear pupils staged a demonstration outside the school yesterday after receiving the advice in a letter from newly appointed headteacher, Caroline Amos, following incidents on Tuesday.
