I READ with great sadness of the latest scything of BBC Scotland's budget when we already have a skeletal service in this country ("Minister airs fears about BBC quality", The Herald, October 12) . BBC Scotland only receives a third of BBC licence fees raised in Scotland for Scottish programming (3% of the BBC's total programme-making budget) which brings into question the basic human right of free and fair access to the media. I thought that was bad enough, but apparently not.
Now BBC Scotland is to suffer a further cut of more than pound(s)16 million from its Scottish programming budget of pound(s)102 million with the axe hitting specifically hard on sport, comedy drama and documentaries.
