ABOUT 80 jobs are to go at a major food producer because of an increase in foreign imports from European countries affected by bird flu, it emerged yesterday.

The Grampian Country Food Group said strong competition supplying the retail and manufacturing market with fresh chicken had led to the decision to close its processing and bird packing operations at its site in Banff.
