TONY Blair unveiled a farreaching reshuffle of ministerial jobs last night as critics threatened to put up a stalking horse to stand against him if he refused to leave office by autumn.

The reshuff le is neither Brownite nor Blairite, but the prime minister showed his determination not to bow to the party's traditional wing by elevating AndrewAdonis to the House of Lords, from where he will be a junior minister in the Department for Education and Skills.
