BED-BLOCKING is a blight on the NHS and the old people who needlessly, but through no fault of their own, find themselves in hospital care.

It keeps patients who require surgery and other treatment stranded on waiting lists because there are no beds for them. Old people themselves suffer from being stuck in hospital when they would be much happier in a friendly, informal atmosphere with their peers or receiving care at home.
