A SCOTTISH soldier killed in a rocket-propelled grenade attack was part of a highly trained group at the forefront of the counter- insurgency campaign, an inquest has heard.

Lance Corporal Joseph Pool, 26, from the Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland, was killed in an explosion in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, on September 5, 2010.
