A BORDERS town was celebrating yesterday after the threat of its war memorial clock being silenced at night was finally lifted.

Residents in Galashiels, Selkirkshire, were stunned when a decision was taken to stop the chimes between midnight and 7.15am last July because of only one complaint - from a bed and breakfast owner who claimed the noise was keeping guests awake and affecting business.
