CRAIG BREWSTER was confirmed as the new Dundee United manager last night after the Tannadice club agreed a compensation package with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The situation seemed to have reached a stalemate overnight as the two clubs haggled over a compensation fee for Brewster, who had 18 months of his contract left to run. The issue was finally resolved in a meeting between Eddie Thompson, the Dundee United chairman, and Inverness chief David Sutherland yesterday at the Gleneagles Hotel.
