ON AUGUST 18, your defence correspondent, Ian Bruce, revealed new figures showing the extent to which the army's main combat troops were facing repeated missions with little time to recover or retrain. He mentioned only complete battalions because the information sent to him did not reveal many deployments below full- unit strength.
