THE bilge alarm that might have alerted the crew of the Solway Harvester that the ship was f looding had been broken for at least three weeks when the scallop dredger sank with the loss of seven men.

Richard Gidney, owner of the Kircudbright vessel, is facing seven charges of manslaughter at the Court of General Gaol Delivery in the Isle of Man, the equivalent of the High Court in Scotland.
