Summary
Many will feel dismay at the suggestion that the Arnold Clark A- listed art deco garage building in Vinicombe Street is possibly to be converted into flats, a restaurant and shops ("Fate of listed garage in balance", The Herald, February 8). The building is widely believed to be the Europe's first multi-storey car-related building and garage.
It should be stabilised, left intact and used as an annexe to the Riverside Museum currently under construction. The Arnold Clark name deserves to be retained, reminding Glasgow of one of its most distinguished citizens, who has brought much employment, prosperity and philanthropy to the city. His organisation has established a national reputation and respect.See the full content of this document
