A NURSE in charge of a ward where cases of a hospital bug claimed the lives of 18 people told an inquiry that although there were a "significant number" of patients with diarrhoea, she did not believe it could be classed an "outbreak".

A total of 55 patients were infected with clostridium difficile (C Diff) between December 2007 and June 2008 at Vale of Leven hospital in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire.
