THE low-carb craze is to decline as Britons move towards a diet of "everything in moderation", according to a report on market trends for the forthcoming year.

It suggests that, in general terms, there appears to be a move away from extreme dieting to a "more natural, balanced approach". So- called mid-calorie products, already popular in the United States, could be an important growth area in the UK, with halfcaffeine coffee and soft drinks, as well as mid-calorie and reduced-fat (as opposed to lowfat) foods increasing in both popularity and availability.
