AFACILITY for more than 200 vulnerable children and adults last night welcomed the announcement that the controversial Aberdeen bypass will not be routed through the heart of its community.

Tavish Scott, transport minister, has opted for a completely new route - which is expected to raise the cost of the development by GBP100m - after rejecting no fewer than five possible routes which have been 12 years in the planning.
