WILL CARLING, the former England captain, has accused members of their World Cup squad of "insulting the shirt" with their behaviour in New Zealand. Carling also questioned whether manager Martin Johnson would want to remain in his job and called for sweeping reform at the Rugby Football Union.

The England squad's stay included raucous behaviour at a bar in Queenstown; a forced apology by three players - Chris Ashton, James Haskell and Dylan Hartley - to a female hotel worker in Dunedin for lecherous comments; and a pound(s)3000 fine for Manu Tuilagi for diving off a ferry into Auckland Harbour. On the field, England did not impress in a single match before they were knocked out by France.
