RUTH Wishart (January 12) is being a little unkind to Argyll and Bute Council despite the wholehearted support for her views in your columns.

Castle Toward was originally built by the Glasgow merchant and former lord provost, Kirkman Finlay, in 1820, extended a century later by Mr Andrew Coats of Paisley and latterly occupied during the last war by the Royal Navy as HMS Brontosaurus.
