Summary
SEASICK STEVE Man From Another Time Warner L12.72.... 4/5
Musical accessories must be in short supply in Steven Wold's house. But that doesn't stop the former hobo known as Seasick Steve from making do, whether it's with the one-string contraption that opens his fourth album (Diddley Bo) or the three-string affair that brings it to a stomping close (Seasick Boogie). Though he's no longer adding anything new to the dusty heritage of the blues, he continues ably to push the form in opposite directions: wild, electrified slide parties or stripped-back acoustic laments. They alternate here, but the star turn is a hidden-track version of I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, a duet with Amy LaVere in which Wold pours his decades on the road into a truly affecting vocal.See the full content of this document
