NEIL LENNON last night insisted that the only reason Celtic lost out to Bristol City in the race to sign the England goalkeeper, David James, was the 39-year-old's decision to remain close to his roots in the south of England.
James did not attend a meeting arranged with Celtic officials in Glasgow on Monday, but Lennon said: "He couldn't make it for genuine personal reasons - we respect that.
