Ali Howard's article ("Should people have the right to choose their own death?", The Herald, June 27) is an important contribution to the debate on assisted dying.
Dignity in Dying calls for changes in the law to allow people who assist loved ones to die to be treated compassionately within the law, as well as campaigning for a change in the law to allow dying adults the choice of an assisted death if their suffering becomes unbearable. It is important to note that assisted dying and good quality end-of-life care are not mutually exclusive.
