THE Gaza Strip is one of the most densely populated tracts of territory on earth and contains more armed rival groups claiming to represent political, religious or nationalist causes than the rest of the Middle East combined.
The prime kidnapping suspects in the case of Kate Burton and her parents remain the Black Panthers, a small but militant splinter group of Fatah, the terrorist strong-arm section of the Palestine Liberation Organisation.
