ONE of Scotland's most august business institutions has come out fighting in a battle to preserve its identity.

The 16,000-strong Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland has fired a shot across the bows of its southern counterpart, over the name of a new "super-institute" for the profession which could eventually unite three UK bodies.
