Summary
THE day when cleaning of NHS hospitals was put out to contract was the day disaster started. Introducing profit into the system obviously meant that not all finance allocated to provide cleaning services would be used for actual supply of cleaning materials and equipment, staff pay and training. Some would be taken off as profit. This has had the inevitable effect of reducing the standard of service insofar as seriously and adversely to affect the well- being of patients and staff.
This is unacceptable. Cleaning contracts should be terminated forthwith, followed by a swift return to dedicated full-time staff whose aim would doubtless be to produce an environment where bugs never have a chance.See the full content of this document
