Don Maclachlan, a distinguished naval architect and a familiar figure among the west-coast yachting fraternity, has died at the age of 89.
Born in Singapore where his father, C D Maclachlan, a naval architect, was in charge of the Admiralty Dock from 1908 to 1921, he was the eldest of three children.
