A FORMER army commander yesterday condemned plans to send British troops to support US forces in Iraq, saying they were already overstretched.

Colonel Tim Collins, whose eve-of-battle address to the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment during the Iraq war won worldwide acclaim, said the Black Watch should be back home training other units.
