THE number of pupils taking computing courses has fallen dramatically over the past year because so many children already know the basics when they get to secondary school.

Figures show the number of entries for Standard Grade computing fell by 8per cent this year, from 18,849 to 17,395. There was a 7per cent drop in entries for the Higher course.
