A CONMAN who unleashed a "tidal wave of crime" on dozens of elderly churchgoers across England and Scotland by claiming he had been sent by their local priest to ask them for help has been jailed for five years.

Scot Mark Rhodes, 26, committed a "nationwide torrent of offending"in which he duped vulnerable people out of cash by pretending he needed short-term loans and had been given their name by their local vicar or pastor.
