SCOTLAND'S knife culture will be confronted with a tougher response from prosecutors and courts, under plans set out yesterday by the lord advocate.

Those caught carrying knives will not get police bail and will be held in custody until their court hearing, while more will face jury trials which carry greater maximum sentences.
