I FOUND your coverage of the difficulties newly-qualified teachers are facing to secure a permanent job very informative and at the same time very worrying ("Anger as teachers are denied a career", The Herald, September 3).
I am about to enter third year at Stirling University on a teaching degree (history and politics with professional education) and am worried about my prospects when I graduate. I am looking at my options as I do not want to complete my probation year and then find I am unable to secure a job. As a mature student (I will be 43 when I graduate), it is obviously very important to me to secure my future after university, as, indeed, it is for all graduates.See the full content of this document
