high and dry: Bridging the gap, most of the time . . . This bridge at Belhaven Bay in Dunbar, East Lothian, which is flooded at high tide, offers a dry haven to a visitor to the John Muir Country Park.

At low tide the structure, known by locals as the "bridge to nowhere", spans the beaches at either side of the estuary. It replaced a wooden bridge that stood there in the 1960s.
