ON Saturday October 8, Iman Abdul Rahman Abid, 47, and his wife, Rakshanda, 35, awoke to the news that they had lost more than 50 relatives in the Pakistan earthquake. Many were crushed in their houses as they slept, swept away in a landslide, many more are simply unaccounted for, their bodies still missing.

Mr Abid spent the next two months in Glasgow, gathering emergency supplies - tents, blankets, medical supplies - anything he could find, to take to his relatives in the village of Darkhanbadi. He has just returned from his trip to preach at the AlFurqan mosque in the Woodlands area of Glasgow.

"He pretends he is OK", said Mrs Abid. "He tries to keep busy. People think he looks all right, but inside, mentally and physically, he is not well at all."
