ZANDER Diamond may resemble a ring refugee from last Saturday's fisticuffs at the Braehead Arena, but the Aber-deen centre-back is hopeful he will be allowed to square up to Partick Thistle tonight.

The 18-year-old's rise to prominence earned him the Bank of Scotland Young Player of the Month award for February yesterday. He still managed a smile despite 12 stitches in two cuts on his face, the result of banging heads with team-mate Markus Heikkinen against Livingston on Saturday.
