GLASGOW'S huge equal pay compensation bill began to take its toll yesterday when the city council imposed GBP18m cuts to services.

Education, social work and culture and leisure were worst affected, facing GBP7.9m, GBP5.2m and GBP1.4m worth of cuts respectively during this financial year.
