IT is a shortlist to make a follower of the arts scene in Scotland salivate with anticipation. Once again, the names of those in contention for a Creative Scotland Award - 10 of whom will receive (pounds) 30,000 to realise their ideas - are a timely reminder of the breadth of talent to be found in a country which, by comparison with most of its European neighbours of com-parable population, still spends relatively little on cultural provision.
If only these flagship awards had stayed true to the ethos they began with, it would be possible to embrace them as a highlight of the cultural calendar in the coming year.See the full content of this document
